DiaTech USA, the manufacturer of the brakes, and Derby USA, the importer and distributor, have received one report of a consumer who lost control of his bicycle when the brakes failed to disengage, and suffered broken ribs.
These are 2000 model bicycles with the following brands and models:
|Raleigh||M600, M800, M8000|
|Diamondback||Zetec Comp, X-2|
|Univega||DS950, Alpina 700|
Raleigh, Diamondback and Univega bicycle dealers nationwide sold these bicycles from November 1999 through June 2000 for between $800 and $1,200.
Consumers should stop riding these bicycles immediately, and return
them to their dealer for free replacement of the front and rear brake calipers.
