This recall involves all 11.5 inch aluminum Marin brand mountain bikes sold from August 1998 through July 12, 2002. The specific 11.5 inch models included are the Bobcat Trail, Hawk Hill, Palisades Trail, Pioneer Trail, Nail Trail, Stinson and Rocky Ridge. Also included is the 13.5 inch aluminum Quake model.These bikes were sold through independent bicycle retailers. The suggested retail price was from $280.00 to $900.00. In
determining the size of the frame (noted above) consumers should measure
from the center of the crank arms (see illustration, item 1) to approximately
1 inch below the seatpost clamp (see illustration, item 2). Consumers should
also make sure that their frame is aluminum by locating the sticker on
the front of the seatube (see illustration, item 3) and verifying that
it says ?aluminum? or ?alloy? on the sticker.
Consumers
should stop using the recalled bikes immediately and
call Marin's recall hotline at (800) 876-9840
Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific time to learn where
to take their bicycle to have their recalled frame replaced free of charge.
Consumers can also visit Marin?s web site at www.marinbikes.com/recall
to find a retailer near them that will assist them in this recall and to
